Rising from the Ashes
Incidents and instances shape our lives. In Dhananjay’s case, accidents and hardships shaped his life. In 1999, he met with a huge accident and was hit by a truck. He was in a medical coma for almost three months. This was just a few months before his engineering exam. Recalling the incident, Dhanjay says, “I don’t know what powered my recovery. I think it was Lord Krishna and the sheer will to finish what I had started. The doctors had no clue of when I will wake up.” However, even after this life-threatening incident, Dhanjay pulled through and completed his degree. Since starting his work in Kirloskar in 1996, Dhanjay did not remit a single penny of his salary during those three years. He had it saved up. After his accident, it was Kirolskar Group management that took care of the hospital bills and medical expenses.
One Small Step to a Giant Leap
His burning desire to rise out of the ashes made him come back from his recovery and set up a new venture. Leveraging his technical abilities, he started a CNC Machine Training Center to train young industrial workers. The venture quickly gained momentum and became popular among learners. With his drive to always do more, he also started a computer training center in the same space. This was the period of the initial IT and computer tech boom in India, and Dhananjay’s Indian Technical and Computer Institute (ITCI) became one of the most popular learning hubs for aspiring students. Dhananjay did not stop there. He joined hands with the Maharashtra government and started the very popular MSCIT course in his institute. Very soon, he was able to spread the branches of the MSCIT course centers across the state under the brand name of the National Corporation of Information Technology (NCIT).
