The Formative Years
Dhanjay regards these years as an extremely crucial phase of his life. He says, “These years shaped the marketer and entrepreneur in me.”
After completing his SSC in the year 1990, he signed up for the ITI course in the mechanical department. He always wished to become a doctor but could not fulfill his ambition due to his economic conditions. After completing his ITI course, he came to Pune in 1994 in search of a job. For the next two years, he worked with multiple companies, such as TelCo, Bajaj Auto, Bajaj Tempo, and Kirloskar Group as a technician.
Dhanjay Varnekar – Working His Way Up
It was while working at Kirloskar he decided to pursue higher education and started his preparations for a diploma in Mechanical Engineering and eventually completed his bachelor’s degree in the same field by 2002. During these four years (1998-2002), Dhananjay lived another dual life as a student and a night shift employee to support his ambitions.
In those years, he also worked as a door-to-door salesman, selling crackers, home appliances, and other things to support his education. Looking back, his work as a door-to-door seller made him realize the value of connecting with people and understanding their innate needs to give them the right kind of solutions.
